Mission profile: The sophisticated sensor equipment that the Goddard carries is enough to rival that of a large space station. Long range sensors penetrate deep into hostile territory to monitor any signs of foul play, as well as to track fleet movements and possible signs of Borg activity. The Goddard class, named after the rocketry pioneer Robert Goddard, is an extremely light vessel and should not, if possible, be introduced into a combat situation. She is capable of panetary touchdown and marine submersion (can go underwater) comfortably up to 7 kilometers deep. In extreme circumstances, the Goddard can reach 9 kilometers by boosting the deflector and transferring all reserve power to the shield generators.
