Refit Nebula-class Battleship

Starship name: USS Nebula
Class: Nebula-class battleship
Length: 442.23 meters
Beam: 318.11 meters
Height: 130.43 meters
Departmental class: battleship/patrol ship
Cruise Velocity: Warp 8
Maximum Velocity: Warp 9.8
Weapons systems: 10 type 10 phaser strips, 9 quantum torpedo tubes, 1 photon torpedo launch tube.

Decks: 20
Crew compliment: 750

Design: After the end of the Dominion War, Starfleet was low on ships, particularly battleships. Starfleet began ordering large numbers of ships including the Nebula-class ships. However, compared to the newer Sovereign- and Defiant- class battleships, the older Nebula class was rather weak, and it could not use quantum torpedos. To remedy these shortcomings, it was proposed that the ships should be refitted with new weapons and shields. The refit included:

The original “sensor” pod has been removed and replaced with a “weapons” pod, which includes a phaser strip and 6 forward quantum torpedo tubes.
The sensor pod pylon has been replaced with a new and larger one, providing better support to the new pod. It also includes a phaser strip, which can fire directly aft.
The rear shuttlebay has been reduced in size to make room for a single quantum torpedo tube.
The shield emitters were replaced with upgraded versions.
A pair of phaser strips has been added to the nacelles.
The main shuttle bay has removed, and a new one built on the other side of the disk, facing forward, so it is not blocked by the pylon of the sensor pod.
The photon torpedo tubes above the navigational deflector have been removed and replaced with quantum torpedo tubes.
Several more phaser strips have been added.

Alignment & Era: Federation, Nemesis Era

Mission profile: The primary mission of the Nebula-refits is to patrol the Federation borders. It’s secondary mission is to defend Federation territory.

Purpose within Starfleet: Within Starfleet, the purpose of these ships is to defend the Federation.

Purpose within Star Trek Online: The Nebula refits have two primary purposes in Star Trek Online. The first is as a small hub ship in dangerous areas. Players can man the weapon rooms to fire at enemy ships.
The second purpose is as a max- level player ship, available after a rather tough quest.

Is there any change to the class via the refit? Based on the picture, it looks identical to the previous Nebula class vessels. Or is the refit just in the schematics and fittings?

Actually, there were major changes to the pylon and sensor pod, and a  phaser array was added a to the nacelles. I also changed the bridge module slightly.

Changing the bridge and modifying small things don't account on being a refit. Compare the original Connie to the refit; practically nothing is the same except for the general shape. I'd suggest you make a new Nebula from scratch or create a new ship that will replace the Nebula on long term.

Just a thought...

I would have to disagree borgman , we saw minor refits take place often with the Galaxy Class starships and the Excelsior Class ships. at any rate just because there is not a major updates to the superstructure of the ship doesnt mean that clear changes are not classified as refits.

A refit does not have to include any super-structure changes at all.  A refit could simply be upgrading the ODN or EPS conduits, putting in a new computer core, or warp core.  The Enterprise D was refitted for Generations...the outside look as the exact same, yet the interior and systems were different.

That being said, it looks cool, though a front view would be cool to see!
