Purpose within Starfleet: To provide fleets with ample firepower and support during battle; to provide Starfleet Marines and Troops with a large and versatile vessel in which to be transported to a planetary environment; to quickly and effectively move these marines and troops from one system to another in the event of a planetary loss.
