Crew dispositions.....
« on: 22 November 2008 08:10 PM »

I made this thread over at the trek forums and as ususual, it's like tossing pearls before swine when trying to start a debate that does'nt involve combat or "How can I make myself look unigue and above everyone else" routine.

Anyway's, what I was wondering about is this; As we all know the crews of starships can be a loyal bunch, in fact they will risk life and limb and even their careers for a much respected captain like Kirk or Picard.  Will see this idea integrated into the game? I mean, if a crew is well treated and cared for, would we not get, say some bonus somewhere in ship performance.  By the same token it only makes sense that a badly treated crew will give a poor job in ship performance, encouraging players to treat their crews well rather than just cannon fodder.

Any comments about this idea is welcome.

I have nothing against the idea, but I think it should be noted that if it's used, it would have to be VERY precise. I'd hate to have an internet glitch and have a disconnent, then come back to find my crew hate me for it. I could think of other examples that might be interpreted by a computer system as a "bad" action while it's normal human error.

Interesting idea.  I would think that a well treated crew would result in higher morale which in turn would boost ship performance, but, how would you measure this?

I think the idea is good, but how would it be implemented?

Would have to be some of charisma meter or the way influence was gauged in KoTOR and NwN games.

But Federation and Klingon would have different ways to gauge it (one by respect and the other honor perhaps)

Interesting concept I agree.

This will probably not be something we see at launch, though I could see it being in an update soon after....
