Possible Problems Of Using Keyboard Alike Controles On A Console

The matter of how a keyboard will work on a console like the PS3 or the Xbox 360 live as on a PC will run the game smoothely. It's just my 2 cents what comes to mind making STO run.

So that in the game the player can grind, craft, survey, fight, controle a spaceship, rank up & explore new worlds. Did I miss anything?

I will be very disappointed if they DUMB DOWN the PC controls in favour of a console based system.

IMHO, MMO's are too complex to be pulled of on an X-Box or PS3 - too many controls, too many things to do.

The control system can make or break a game, so lets hope they get a good one going.

Hasn't affected PC controls atm for Champions, still plays very much like a normal MMO just slightly more action like.

I don't understand why they need to eliminate keyboard controls.  I have a full keyboard plugged into my xbox.  Very nice for chatting.

Make the console gamers adapt to our system instead of vice versa.

Are you in the Beta?   Are you saying that the controls have been developed with the PC in mind and not a console?

Yeah I'm in Beta. That's a little more tricky to answer since I don't have a XBOX controller, however I can say that keyboard and mouse plays pretty much like most other MMO's; press keys or mouse click to target and activate powers, menus and so on, I haven't noticed any dumbing down so far.

Unlikely a console version won't harm the standard keyboard in a PC system. The controls on the X-Box 360 Live adapted with a keyboard and mouse is a possibility not that Cryptic Studios will make a only console version. STO will be logicaly made for PC & also for consoles as Jack Emmert had told before. It isn't the intention of Cryptic to make it playable with a controler on PC alike a joypad at PS3 or X-Box 360.
