how do i use my pre order ship after i claim it in the c store ?

Go to earth space dock, to the shipyards section.  One of the guys there will let you view your current ships and from there, you an activate whichever ship you want to fly at that time.

I love my Constitution, it looks great and I enjoy the classic, ship lines.

Be aware that if you yank off the default phasers you will lose the color and any special sound effects. I recommend leaving the default phasers in, they seem to scale nicely as you rank up.
