Lt Arex Player Model

This is Lt Arex from the 70's animated Star Trek. He started a couple of years ago as a Player Model for Elite Force 1, and may well still end up in that game, I just keep being distracted by shiny things :(
Anyway, I have been learning Z-Brush recently and it occured to me that he might be a nice Player Model for Unreal Tournament III so I decided to work him up. This is what I have so far:

Is this fella in any way related to the Pierson's Puppeteer species? ;)

Wow! Had to Google that one.
No, although there is a connection as Niven did write some episodes for the animated series. I don't think he invented or designed Arex, though - mainly because there's was no evidence that Niven was ever on Crack.

After much to-ing and fro-ing from Maya to Z-Brush I've finally gotten a high-detail mesh that I'm happy with. I've sampled it as a normal map and from there also started in on the colour map. There's much tidying to do - especially around the cuffs and wrists where the Z-Brush mesh was screwy and so the normal map sample has also broken. I may well rebuild those sections from scratch just using Photoshop and CrazyBump instead of Z-Brush.
Things I have learned so far: Don't try and do the whole thing in one go. It makes more sense to break it up - the normal map sampling will be tidier too - at least until I'm more experienced at using it.
Here he is thus far: 3058 triangles (which I'm quite happy with).
