New Girl
« on: 12 January 2009 11:50 PM »
I've belonged to a few STO sites before. You may remember me from Star Trek Online Gamers which I think died. I was also a member of a site owned by a guy named Juliano called (oddly) STO-Zone. Those guys were cool. I hope you guys don't ban we right away because people there didn't seem to like this site very much.

So I'm a high school senior. I'm pretty much a fangirl/nerd/insert your favorite adjective. My father is a fan of The Original Series. I remember as a little girl watching VOY & ENT & the bad TNG movies together. I didn't get into Star Trek myself until I saw reruns of ENT. The episodes with Augments led me to look up Khan. I rented The Wrath of Khan. Been a fan ever since.

My favorite series is DS9. The writing/plotting is simply brillant. The characters are three-dimensional. I love the Cardassian wit & sense of humor. I think all ST aliens are a reflection of an aspect of human nature/psyche. Cardassians represent our ID, survival skills, etc. I've been following STO updates on-and-off since April of last year. When I read the updates recently, I went "Sweet. I'll check the fansites."
My gameplan is (if the game ever gets out) to go Federation & chose Andorian captain (ENT definantly made them cool). Hopefully Cardassia will join the Federation or at least half of it, the other half beig conquered by Klingons. The whole thing being conquered by Klingons would mean extinction. Which I don't want. Romulans are interesting & prettier, but we've never got into their brains the way we have other species.

I chose my name after Cleopatra VII. Yes, there was probably seven of them. I want to be a history teacher. I love Shakespeare & I read all the time. Which is good because I don't have to worry about my English Final. Which may or may not be tomorrow. Illinois winters are bad. I love anime. You'll learn about my love of Yami Bakura. The last video game I bought is Digimon Dusk. I got the DS for Christmas. I wanted Final Fantasy IV. But it's $30-$40. Digimon is friendly nostalgia & very long.

I need alittle help. I live in Illinois and this board is based in the UK. So I'm looking in Layout trying to figure out the time difference with no success. Could someone please tell me what to type.

Hey, welcome aboard.

I used to be part of Juliano's site for awhile. It's o.k. we had some differences but I hope we can put it all in the past.  So no worries there.

The server is based in the UK, Zach (producer/main host) is actually in Serbia and I'm in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Talk about confusing sometimes. The only real important time to remember is Saturday mornings, 11:00 eastern standard I believe ( I say I believe because Zah just changed the show by one hour and I was actually late this past weekend.

Good luck with your schooling. How exciting to be a senior!  You've got some of the best hobbies and interest around, especially your interest in history and writing!

Thank you for joining us on the Devil Fish, make yourself at home, there is always a cabin available.

We'll be in STO before you know it and I'm sure you will do great!

Welcome!

Cleopatra!
Welcome aboard the Devilfish. I know you will like it here...we all do, even when Kinneas is late and K'Suan goes AWOL. :P
If we happen to meet in any of the RP sections here, don't take my Romulan half the wrong way...he means well!  :startrek109:
I am also a member of STO-Zone and have read your posts there...we're not all bad. But mostly I am here or with my home fleet.
Sit back and enjoy the ride.  :startrek015:

Hey Cleopatra - Welcome to Hailing Frequency.

Not to be weird, but great to have another girl here to help balance out the  terrible male:female member ratio we have here lol.

I hope you will choose to be an active member of our community, we have members worldwide, so I'm sure you will have a great time here.

Ds9 is, I think, my favorite series too, it had the best writing, the best character development, etc.

The only important time you need to remember is 11am Eastern Standard - which is when we broadcast a live show every two weeks (also released as a podcast).

Anyway, Speak soon and welcome again
