3 Trivia Contents, 3 days, 90 closed beta keys!
« on: 27 December 2009 06:02 PM »
On Christmas Day, we launched a closed beta competition where we were giving away 40 of the 150 closed beta keys that we have been assigned by Atari and Namco Bandai.

Today, as promised, we are announcing details of the next series of competitions that we plan to launch - 3 trivia contests, held on 3 days, with 30 closed beta keys available per contest for total of 90 over 3 days!

  • Trivia Contest 1 - 5pm GMT - 6.30pm GMT, Monday 28th December 2009
  • Trivia Contest 2 - 6pm GMT - 7.30pm GMT, Tuesday 29th December 2009
  • Trivia Contest 3 - 7pm GMT - 8.30pm GMT, Wednesday 30th December 2009

DETAILS:

The first trivia contest will run tomorrow from 5pm GMT until 6.30pm GMT. 30 Keys will be up for grabs in this first competition.

The ten questions for the trivia contest will be posted at 5pm GMT sharp and will close at 6.30pm GMT sharp.  Your answers must be e-mailed to us within this 90 minute time period, or you will be disqualified.  One entry per person only - this will be strictly monitored.

WHERE TO SEND ANSWERS AND WHAT SHOULD BE IN THE MESSAGE

Answers for each trivia contest should be e-mailed to "stobeta@hailingfrequency.com" with the subject line "Closed Beta Trivia Contest 1" for the Monday competition, "Closed Beta Trivia Contest 2" for the day 2 competition on Tuesday and "Closed Beta Trivia Contest 3" for the day 3 competition on Wednesday!

The message should contain:

          Your Name
          Your E-Mail Address
          Your HailingFrequency.com Username

          Your Answers

The second trivia contest will run on Tuesday at 6pm GMT until 7.30pm GMT and will have a further 30 keys up for grabs -  and the third on Wednesday at 7pm GMT until 8.30pm GMT with a final 30 closed beta keys available.

HOW TO WORK OUT THE TIME DIFFERENCE

To help you work out the time difference between you and London, we recommend you use the following link to view the current time in London (GMT) and work out the difference between yourself and GMT that way.

WINNERS....

Winners will be randomly selected and will be notified and announced within a maximum of 24 hours after the trivia competition.

The topics for each competition will be general Star Trek and Star Trek Online Trivia.

Good luck to all of you and we will see you tomorrow for the first trivia competition.

Thank you to Hailing Frequency for the 3 contests...you people have out-classed yourselves again.

I am including a handy time-zone map link that shows the world map in time-zones for you all for even easier reference:

http://www.worldtimezone.com/

As I am in central Canada, my zone is GMT -6 and listed six hours BEHIND London's GMT 0.

Good luck to ALL entrants...and thanks again Hailing Frequency !

When will the participants be notified if they've won? The same evening, or when all contests have run their course?

I'm also assuming there'll be only one key per person from HF, come hell or high water?

Winners will be notified within 24 hours - it could be as little as an hour after or as long as 24 hours.  A notice will go out in the Trivia thread when winners are announced.

And yes, one key per person.  We will be looking for things like duplicate IP Addresses on Registered Accounts, Proxy Use for Hiding real IP Addresses, etc etc.

It says one entry per person, is that one entry per day or one entry over the three days?

Both myself and my wife would like to enter. Is that ok? Same househoild, but two different computers.  Will that be a problem?

My son would like to as well, but I don't think he can due to the NDA (he's under 18).

Edit - Also, according to the link you posted, I posted this at 2:13am GMT.  But the time on the forum said 3:13.  Which time should is correct?

Your external IP is the same. They have no way of knowing whether or not you're making things up.

I'm not saying you're lying, I'm just saying they have no way of finding out if you are.

It's up to them really.

Zach: http://www.google.com/search?q=current+time+london+uk is a much neater URL
How are the winners selected? (Nearly) Randomly out of a hat, or pseudo-randomly by a computer?
"duplicate IP Addresses on Registered Accounts" - If I were you, I'd make a submission page with captcha that logs IP+System data and sends them with the email just to make sure. Also I'd enable captcha on forum registration....
