Ships in Excalibur now effectively have positioned engines and thrusters along the hull, just as you would expect to see on the ship model. When you tell your ship to turn left, thrusters on the right side of the ship fire and tell the ship to turn in that direction. When you are cruising along at full impulse and turn off your engines, your inertia will still keep you moving forward for a fair amount of time until you apply a force sufficient enough in the opposite direction to stop the ship.By the same logic, if you are happily cruising through space in your Galaxy Class and try to make a sharp turn to the right without reducing speed first, your ship will spin out of control (imagine trying to handbrake turn a bus) because the forward momentum of the impulse engine is greater than the force produced by the manoeuvring thrusters. In addition, if you are in a battle and your right-side thrusters get knocked out, you are going to have a limited or diminished ability to turn your ship to the left and in some cases, you might find your ship will list in a certain direction until the thrusters or engines are repaired.
Nice, This will be fun!!!
