id say go look at all the emotes from SWG. there were well over 100, and actually, i used a lot of them.
I cannot agree with you more. I've always used SWG's emote list as a great example. The motion capture for some of them, too, was very well done and I would love STO to do similar things. Although, some of them were a bit repetitive or over-the-top in reactions, but you would always turn the animations off.
I need characters to be able to touch each other and interact in more ways than just collision-detection. Hugs, dances... carrying would be the utmost, some kind of interlock system would be awesome.
...I think the game would feel that much more real.
While I agree, I'm not quite sure this would happen. If it did, it would most definitely revolutionize the MMO world. Not only would it involve everyone to have superior internet connection speeds to keep up with the server, but it could also present some exploitive situations, depending on how it was carried out. It would have to involve mutual cooperation from both players, obviously.
Back on the topic of emotes: Emote length has always been a slight issue for me (i.e. /livelongandprosper). If it takes me as long to type the emote as it would to actually say it, it can become cumbersome. Although you could cut them down and just have to type "/livelong". Speaking of actually "saying" an emote, I'd like to look back at SWG once again. They, in a sense, had custom emotes, which I believe knightofhyrule730 was referring to with the /me command. You could use either use ": (insert emote)" or "/emote (insert emote). For example: ": takes the glass" would translate to "DocSean takes the glass.", it was one of my favorite things and really allowed me to express
exactly what I wanted to.
Just my two cents.. or perhaps three.
