I just wanted to revive this topic - because i feel the possabilitys with it are truly endless.

Imagine using the Guardian of Forever to travel back to the 1960s like in City on the Edge of Forever, or swinging around a sun to pick up whales to save the future lol - Hell, having ships from the future interfering with the present. What about another temporal war?

I hope they find some way to pull it off.

Oh gawd i hope not. Time travel was pleasently done with the TOS series, as it was accidenal and required thinking to get back to normal time. with TNG and ENT we saw a dramtic shift where Time travel became a convient plot device to work around writers block for new ideas. I'm hoping they leave future ships out and may have the occasional accidental travel back in tiem requiring teamwork and puzzle solving skills to get back to normal time.

Time Travel wasnt so bad in The Next Generation - Let me think of the times it was pulled of well:

The episode where the Enterprise-C gets accidentally flung into the future is one particularly good episode. I liked that one alot, because instead of the main cast getting sent of on some time traveling journey, it was someone that came to them - pretty freakin cool in my mind.

The episode where data gets thrown back to the old wild west! That was an amazing two parter and i loved seeing the TNG cast in the west. It was not deliberate time travel either, all accidental.

All Good Things - The finale episode - this was the only other episode that i can remember that involved time travel in any way, and again, it was not deliberate, it was through the involvement of Q and it was a very well done episode - a great finale.

First Contact was where things started to get a little bit shakey.

Deep Space Nine again had a bunch of good time travel episodes, the one where sisko went back to the riots - brilliant two parter.

The one where Sisko and Co went back to Spacestation K-7 - Trials and Tribillations.....

Voyager and Enterprise were where time travel started to get old, but the point i am trying to make, is that it CAN be done very well, if you have good writers.

Hey Zach, don't forget Time's Arrow Parts 1 and 2. That was a good TT episode. I would also nominate the episode where Morgan Bateson and the USS Bozeman come out of the temporal causality loop. I especially liked that one because I am a fan of Kelsey Grammer.

Another Good Example of Time Travel done well.

I think that if you get some good writers on board aka DC Fontana and Derek Chester, EVEN...Rick Berman...assuming he is kept under armed guard.....Time Travel could be done VERY well in STO.
