Title: STO Roundup 10th Sept - 17th Sept 2009
Post by: Zach on 17 September 2009 10:56 AM
The following is a roundup of Star Trek Online news for the period of September 10th 2009 until September 17th 2009.

Its been a slightly calmer week in terms of Star Trek Online news after the frenzied week that was the Penny Arcade Expo in Downtown Seattle.  Information about Star Trek Online was flowing out of PAX faster than anyone could keep track of, so its a minor relief that things have slowed down just a little.

Most notably this week, a new timeline update was posted for the year 2392 which developed a number of story arcs, the most notable of which seemed to be an indication that the breakaway Romulan faction has allied with the fearsome Hirogen of the Delta Quadrant.  This certainly makes for an interested story twist, so if you havent read the full 2392 update, check it out at http://startrekonline.com/node/372 (http://startrekonline.com/node/372)

A new "Friday Screenshot" was released on the 11th of September showing off a Federation Outpost of some kind - a very nice looking setup if we may say so - here is the shot:

On the subject of screenshots, MMORPG.com have just recently posted 4 new exclusive screenshots which are pretty darn awesome!  You can check those out at http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm?game=352&feature=3514&page=1&bhcp=1 (http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm?game=352&feature=3514&page=1&bhcp=1)

In a couple of final items, Cryptic have announced that the topic for the next "Ask Cryptic" will be Player Progression.  The focus over the past 7-8 weeks has been very much on combat, so its nice to see us moving on from that.

Finally, Congratulations to Cryptic for sweeping the "Best in Show" and "Most Innovative Gameplay" awards at the ZAM.com PAX Awards!

Thats it for this week folks, more to come over the coming week I am sure!
