A Look Back at Perpetuals STO - Part 2
« on: 01 July 2008 02:25 PM »
Just a couple of days ago, I started the ball rolling on a series of unreleased images from Perpetual Entertainments Star Trek Online.  (See Here: http://www.hailingfrequency.co.uk/boards/index.php?topic=786.0)

As we all know, Perpetual Entertainment famously only ever released two official screenshots from Star Trek Online - Publicly. In private, those of us who were lucky enough to be on a friendly basis with Perpetual Entertainment were secretly subjected to the worst kind of torture - sneak peaks!.

Due to various legal agreements, the contents of these sneak peaks has remained and probably will largely remain secret for years to come, however, we have been given the go ahead by the powers that be to start generating some new hype around Star Trek Online.

While it should be noted that the new developer is NOT continuing to make Perpetual Entertainments Star Trek Online, they are looking to exceed it. In fact, while the new developer has never made a Sci-Fi MMORPFG, they are looking to "aggressively" enter the market - so i think we can safely say that we are in for one hell of an STO.

Due to the nature of these images and the fact that they were never intended for release, the quality of them is low, however we can assure you that they are 100% genuine.

This first image demonstrates the changing face of STO while it was in Perpetuals Hands. It was stated at certain points that we would not be having Player Ship Interiors - however this image demonstrating a fully kitted out set of Crew Quarters, while having been designed primarily for use planetside, also appears to have been the template for Starship based Crew Quarters. Could it be that Perpetual had a change of heart regarding PSIs?

There isnt much to say about this second images - but it gives us a very nice perspective on a ship that we have all seen before.

Once again, we do apologize for the quality here, however they are clear enough to drool over. I have tried to enhance them using several fractal programs but the results were less than desirable.

More images will be posted in the coming days.

Nice pics, Zach. :)

Are those the original or the enhanced pics? If it's the enhanced ones, do you have the originals?

Sweet!
But I am more inclined to think that the first pic is a planetary dwelling. It seems waaaay to large for ship based quarters. Regardless, it is nice to (finally) see them.

About the first pic: You say it's a crew quarters, but it looks like it has a wooden floor... Also, it doesn't look like it's on a ship, it looks more like it';s in a house on a planet...

Yeah the room looks like a planetary dwelling and the light coming through the windows doesnt seem to indicate space. Is the Excalibur exploding in that pic or is that supposed to be a sun?

yeah i agree with the others it definatly looks like a ground based shot instead of on a ship mainly due to the fact it has a wooden flooring and the windows being THAT big compared to the size shown even on a Station like DS9

as for the second it looks like its a sun or star inbetween the hulls as the other side shows a sort-of diamond-esqe shape and you can easily make out the same on the othersde with the star right next to the hull (although by that i dont mean it is literally next to the ship)

Anyone else think that that gold figure in the middle of the first image looks like it could be C-3PO? lol  :muaha:
