Cryptic Studios Tease with New STO Concept Art
« on: 02 August 2008 05:28 PM »
When the Star Trek Online website went up on Sunday July 27th, folks quickly noticed that Cryptic Studios had been using concept art as various backgrounds on their website.

Well, it would seem these concept pictures have been rotating today as Hailing Frequency noticed 3 New Pieces of Concept Art on the Website.

We have put these through photoshop to brighten them up but here they are:

Note that the 2nd and 3rd have the same, or at least a similar, planet in the background! (not the big storm on both of them)

Woot, woot, woot!  Very cool indeed.  And the return of my missing spatula class star ship is somewhat welcome, hopefully what we see on Aug. 10th will be an improvement on that ship, but otherwise a resounding Woot, Woot! from me on the concept art out there thus far.

It gets five  :@ :@ :@ :@ :@ out of five snarling Klingons from me.

Its too bad that unfortunately it appears Cryptic is moving more into the line of what PE was developing, and not doing so much own ideas. The "Spatula Class" Excalibur really looks 'censored' tbh. And their cartoon graphics leaves much to be desired. I mean, if a non-profit hobby can make the NanoFX engine with the impressive graphics it has, one has to wonder why a company like Cryptic can't produce equal if not greater graphics.

I was sensing the same thing. Too much PE, not enough Cryptic. What are they doing? /sigh
