I think it also depends on your idea of 'cartoonish'. <<whips out his old fogey megaphone>>
<clears throat>
In MY day, cartoons were things that were hand drawn, that had clearly definable black lines around something. A cat. A dog. A flippin' Pikachu.
NOWADAYS, a 'cartoon' can be defined as something like Star Wars:The Clone Wars. No drawn lines, all CGI. Is it still a cartoon?
Chicken or the egg?
Now, if we take the latter case as the definition, then yes, I can see how Falin's interpretation might be accurate. BUT, if we decide on that being the gold standard for the game, we're gonna be a whole boatload of dissappointed.
People, if we're looking for motion picture quality graphics, it ain't gonna happen. The devs have to use a graphics system that many potential users are able to run, or they risk alienating customers. It's gotta be good, but not SO good that the game only caters to those with Ferraris for computers. <cough Zack cough> ;)
IMO I think these graphics are comparable to Mass Effect, and those were some damn fine graphics. Anything else is just picking nits or being negative because it makes you feel better to spread the misery around. And I know what I'm talking about.
How do you pick a nit, anyways?
