More Cryptic/STO Evidence?
« on: 25 April 2008 12:16 AM »
In an announcement made today, Cryptic Studios says they will be attending both the GenCon Indy event, and the Penny Arcade Expo in August. The promotion is mainly for Champions Online, the only game they have confirmed as being in development. They'll be bringing the usual amount of game demos, prizes, and other goodies for attendees.

But, the most intriguing part of the announcement is vague, but could add fuel to the STO fire:

Quote
Cryptic Studios will be at GenCon Indy on Aug. 14-17; and at Penny Arcade Expo Aug. 29-31 with games, demos, prizes and more!

Ok, sure, it's grabbing at straws for the moment. But we're holding to the hope that STO is indeed being developed by Cryptic. Stay tuned for more updates as they come!

Heh, that could imply "Spin this wheel for some free swag. You sir won a poster, congrats. Next."

I'm sure though that the question will be asked, and some sort of cryptic answer will be given with a hint of star trek.

No offense Mr. J, this is weak evidence at best. Don't go to trial with it. ;)

For an official announcement, I say the GDC of 2009.

For three reasons:
- I have a pessimistic attitude towards gaming expectations.  Not to say I hate games or a harsh critic (I still play old turn-based games), I just don't believe in the hype or spins.  But if I'm wrong, I'm happy to be so.
- The GDC tends to be the time for big announcements.
- The word "Soon" means any time within a year or so.  Or, "Soon" means, if not now, just check back regularly, and so on, until you are about to give up, and then you will get another hint, just enough to keep your hopes up.

Then... <insert Denis Leary rant here>

I hope there will an announcement for STO soon but I have sort to have to agree with Dracus because I lost my optimism when PE sent STO down the drain.

For the record, under normal circumstances, I never would have even posted this. But, the amount of evidence indicating Cryptic is the developer led me to make a notation of it.

I mentioned it to my Logic Professor, and he told me I was making an Appeal to Emotion, instead of an Appeal to Fact, a big no-no in Logical Reasoning. I argued that the amount of facts that have been compiled so far made it suppositional evidence.

Anyway, the logic geeks like me could argue for years about this one tiny little point, but I still thought it could be seen as another clue for our files.
