New Craig Zinkievich interview
« on: 20 November 2008 08:34 PM »
Nova just pointed out the following link to me:
http://sknr.net/2008/11/18/star-trek-online-interview/
It's a new interview with Craig Zinkievich about STO.

The biggest (and, actually, only) piece of new info:
Quote
For commerce, you will get much of your currency through rewards and trading. You will get new technology from races you meet or you can create new items with resources you gather or trade for and information you learn as you complete missions. There’s also a chance of discovering technology or resources in salvaged ships or on planets.

Edit to add: ROFL, I just now looked at sto.com and found that Razor apparently agrees with me on what the most important part of the interview is. The quote I just provided is the exact same quote as the one he used for his teaser on the front page.

I'm so done with that Title, the forumites are a great indication of the player base, the direction of the title is all wrong and reflects the current "must follow X crowd" design. sorry this is a no go, i'm so sad to have to actually turn myself away from trek on this, as this is something i've waited over 10 years for.

Nothing really new in this interview, but I do think this may be the first MMO that will actually address the dreaded grind that I personally hate so much. The grind in this case really would'nt be if there are new speciies to find often enough, planets to explore, resources to discover and technologies, that quite frankly would make the 'grind' as it were not a grind, but something you would really enjoy doing.  For this reason alone, I'm looking forward to playing this game.

Falin: I hear ya man and for the most part I would agree, but you would'nt have to hang with a lot of those idiots if you dont want to, half the game is going to be exploration, which will mostly be solo. As for those parts that are not, I would urge you to find some like minded ppl you would like to game with have them play with you, then it wouold'nt seem so bad.   I'd be glad to volunteer to meet you in game if you wish. Since we seem to share similar thoughts in these areas.
