Nimoy talks STO
« on: 16 September 2008 02:28 PM »
In a recent interview, Cryptic's very own Razor was able to speak to Leonderd Nimoy about STO and Star Trek in general.  It certainly  makes for an interesting read.

Quote
Razor had the chance to sit down with Star Trek legend Leonard Nimoy last month at the Star Trek convention in Las Vegas. Read what Nimoy has to say about filming Trek, games, the new movie and more.

(The Enterprise crew) are good people doing good work for good reasons. I think that's terribly important, a big part of what the whole franchise is about: the hopefulness of the future, and professional people working together, successfully solving problems.

Mr. Nimoy sums up my feelings fairly well with this:

Quote
Why is it, do you think, that Star Trek has had such a lasting appeal and why does it affect people so deeply?

Leonard Nimoy: Because it reaches the imagination? I think one of the most important aspects is the sense of hopefulness about the future. When the world we live in becomes much more complicated and difficult and the Star Trek cast, the members of the Enterprise crew manage to solve a problem with a level of morality and ethics that Romulans could relate to. These are good people doing good work for good reasons. I think that's terribly important, a big part of what the whole franchise is about: the hopefulness of the future, and professional people working together, successfully solving problems.

to bad 80% of the fans don't agree with Nimoy anymore. <sighs> TNG/DS9 really threw that philosophy out the window.

And you're right, therefor the era where STO is supposed to be and XI will be of a very uncivilized time. I'd rather would in the film see when this crew will bring back the current Star Trek. This why with a older Spock the right time could be brought back.
