Well I don't think this is a complete and utter loss. I actually like the idea of having my own ship. And not having to start from Neill. And having my own crew to upgrade and customize is pretty cool to. It's like making a fan fic, With a MMO. And if you think about it the captain is a very hard and very fun character to play. The bigger ship the Harder it is to command. And if you think about it the captain has to go over every bit of information that has been collected by the ship and its crew, therefore you'll still get the chance to be able to do your science operations. And anything that goes wrong with the ship mechanically has to be reported to the captain so you'll have to visit engineering every once in awhile. And then if they do it right with the crew building, then you still should be able to have that starship simulation adventure just you can only have it from the captain's point of view.
I really do like the fact that you can customize your ship. I was really hoping for that. I'm also intrigued to see that you'll be able to create your own race. I wonder how that's going to work.
I really hope that they allow for starship interiors. It seems that they are going to. But I hope you'll be able to wander around your ship without having to go on a mission. That way you'll be able to invite your friends over to your ship. And have a party, or just chat.
One thing is for sure though space battles are going to be a massive. If everyone is going to have their own ship. I mean a single battle in a faction war could stretch over an entire system. I like that. I hope their server will be able to handle it though. I actually liked the way star trek online is coming. You know that feeling of not getting the game that you wanted, and then finding the game that you never knew you wanted. I think this is going to happen here.
Oh yeah and I love the pitcher where did you find it. :)
