Any BOTF players here?

I'm just curious if anyone else here still plays Birth of the Federation on a regular basis.  It seems there aren't that many of us BOTF players outside of AFC.

I have it installed, but I do not get much time to play these days, especially on multiplayer.  To be honest, I think i'm waiting for Star Trek: Supremacy at this point :-)

Perhaps we can organise a game sometime.

 I am like Jatal also Martok. I have it, but have not dabbled in it for quite some time. In fact I un-installed it a couple months ago...just for HD space! :)

I get upset everytime I play it for AI cheating or my credits acting funny. I can have postive 100 one turn and the next turn it goes negative.

Also once I had 2 truces and one enemy, in the next turn both turned to enemy and joined against me and all 3 attacked at once.

I've never been able to pass 200 turns without getting sick of the way it goes

I'll admit the AI's behavior does leave a lot to be desired at times, especially when it comes to diplomacy.  In truth, it's probably my biggest pet peeve about the game.  My personal favorite is when an empire declares war on me the turn immediately after I meet them; it's as if they decided they were going to hate me from the start.... 

Still, it's usually not detracted from my enjoyment of the game overly much.  BOTF easily remains one of my top 2-3 PC games of all time, and the fact that I still play it regularly 10 years after it was released says a lot about it....that, or my sanity!

I might be willing to accept the AI issue if I could fix the credit issue. I hope the Supremacy game fixes this... I've played it as is and it's not bad... boring after a while without the races involved but good practice as it is so close to BOTF

What "credit issue" are you referring to?  Are you referring to the ship-scrapping exploit?

Credits per turn... most of the time after 100 turns it goes negative until I run out of credits and can't buy anything. Sometimes I can make it to 200 turns. I noticed once I built alot of ships and it went way negative. Another time I have about 4 systems(not alot of ships) and it went negative on me. 80% of the games I play it goes negative and won't let me get out of it.

I can, it's just a matter of (1) What faction you play and (2) How fast you expand. If you take The Fed or the Ferengi and be patient while expanding (and not blow money on speeding up production), you can stay in the black. I'm not saying it's perfect or even correct, but it can be done. =)
