Well I have the game working to a point to where it starts all the videos and menus load and I can even get the game play to load.

Here is the issue I am having. When the game starts all the videos play normally no issue. Once i hit the main menu its super slow and jerky. Mission Briefing is the same. The audio even pauses for 3-5 seconds after every word. Game play its self is also super slow and jerky.

Here are my specs.

Intel I3-370m 2.4ghz CPU, Windows 8 64 bit, Intel HD Graphics 128mb V-ram, 6gb Ram.

Any help to fix this problem would be great.

Sounds like the integrated graphics could be the issue there

Well its a laptop so I can't really do much about the graphics card. :( You would figure by now someone would have created a mod for it that would fix the Intel Graphics issues considering how many machines have it out of the box anymore.

:startrek051: I have a Toshiba Satellite L775D-S7340 Quad Core Laptop. This computer is supposed to be good for gaming so I was told when I bought it a few months ago. I was able to Install ST Dominion Wars but when I click on the icon to play it, it says the program has stopped running and will close. I Installed all the patches but it still wont play. I am new to gaming and I am not a whiz on computers but I'm not stupid so if anyone can help me let me know. Thank you Rob. :startrek004:

Also try the patch's at TrekCore:

http://gaming.trekcore.com/dominionwars/downloads.html

http://gaming.trekcore.com/dominionwars/support.html

I myself have never tried any of these for Windows 7. I play DW on my old computer on Windows XP. ;)

I'm aware that this is a rather old topic, but there is some progress for improve compatibility of Dominion Wars at trekbbs:
http://trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=138489

In short, komat has developed a dll wrapper to fix some compatibility issues of Dominion Wars
http://jiridvorak.webpark.cz/dw/

However, that would need user to hex edit the ds9dw.exe file. So I made a patch utility to help people patch Dominion Wars:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FRAG5MSM
You have to select which version you have (US/EU/DE) and install it. So far it's been tested on US and EU versions. More discussions can be found at trekbbs.

Your Megaupload link is dead :(

Hello,
I have upload the DW patch utility to mediafire:
http://www.mediafire.com/?96bg71sf9fj92gm
Important notes:
1. If you have dual/multi VGA cards, please disable other(s) and left only one usable in control panel.
2. If your screen resolution is larger than 1600x1200, please reduce resolution before you start the game.

Please reply in this thread if you need any help for this game. For other games, please create a new thread else.

Thanks.

This link still works :)
