1st Person or 3rd Person

Okay I bet most of you have seen the incredible Gameplay demo footage of STO.  Also available is the Preview IGN did about STO while at GameCom.  One paragraph caught my eye:

"After watching the space battles, I wondered why the team opted for a third-person view of turn and burn space combat rather than the more system-focused tactical action of other Star Trek games like Klingon Academy and Bridge Commander. Craig explained that they tried a bridge perspective but it made the game feel too much like a dogfighter. The team discovered that the tall ships style of combat simulated in Star Trek worked best in this new 3rd person format"

I dont know about yous but I would of loved to have a STO game with Tactical action screens like BC, KA and AFU.  I loved the UI of BC... I think they should of incorporated the tactical features of BC with STO.

Do you guys feel the same and if so do you think they will include it later?

Jean,

Third person give the player the widest perspective in the Tactical sense. As developments on the battlefield occur, you are able to adjust your view, or even glance to see if your fleet mate is in trouble or to sight a crippled enemy.

The Single viewer that BC has, or even the 3rd person view does not give a wide view of the battlefield. STO provides the widest view that I have seen.

If you can switch between view, that would accommodate all player choices and types.

  Great question.

I would tend to agree Fyasko, I also think there should be the 'either or' option. However, if I had to choose one, it would be 3rd person. The way I see it, if you want Bridge Commander style play, then just play Bridge Commander. ;)
