« on: 20 April 2007 05:50 PM »
Hi there. I am new to the website. Is the beta going to be open for us to try out? I can't find that information anywhere. I am also sooooo excited about the star trek online! I am a Trekkie!

It is expected that at first Star Trek Online will be a closed beta, subject to application and invite only, with them opening it up later on for all to try out, probably for 3 too 6 months.

I'm also curious of how to apply for the beta, unless it's already going

i heard a rumour that bets will be 1 year in length, and it will be starting dec 2007 or jan 2008. it will be only a few lucky people, and more and more as time goes on.

Greetings Folks,
Those few folks that get selected to beta test STO can really help the game be awesome!
Looking for ways to improve STO, watching out for bugs, documenting and sending detailed feedback is a great way to make an epic game even better.
STO will be great fun and Im happy that Perpetual is taking the time to put excellent quality into StarTrekOnline.
Beta Testers do your part :)

I want to point out to you folks that even if you arnt selected for beta - you can still affect the game development.

There are people on the STO Dev Team that listen to Hailing Frequency - Daron Stinett (Executive Producer) - Ryan Danning (Concept Artist) and Mike Stemmel - All of these listen to the show - and probably more. These are just the ones i know about.

So if you have opinions about the direction that Star Trek Online is taking, or if you have a suggestion for a feature you might like to see - Open up Sound Recorder or Audacity, Record your Comments or Ideas - and send them in to me - i will play them on the show - and you never know what will happen after that!

Alot of people do not realise this but Hailing Frequency has had some significant effects on the development of STO. Hailing Frequency was the first community website to get an interview with perpetual entertainment - Out of all of the interviews there have even been regarding STO, Hailing Frequency is on the front line for getting new information about the game.

On top of this - there have been many instances where we have pitched ideas to Daron himself and he has asked for more information - then a few months later we here that our ideas have been accepted as development gimmicks. Hell - Perpetial Entertainment Didnt even understand the concept of a "Triple A MMO" until we explained it too them.

My point with all of this - is that Hailing Frequency IS a medium for you guys to affect the development of STO - so please - use us!
