Chapter 1 of 8: Creating a Account and Settings
Main Menu: First before you play STO, You need to create account or play as a guest. There are two buttons highlighted with blue that say:
"Create a Account"
"Play as a Guest" (e.g click "Create a Account")
Create a Account: First a list of race options appear on the screen. (e.g Untied Federation of Planets) once you click Next, It will being you to the Ranks menu. You pick from Cadet to Admiral. When you click Next again, It will being you to the Player Options. (e.g for face, neck, eyes, etc) Once its done, you go to the Create your Starship menu. From there, You pick a large number of vessels you wish to command. Then you click Finish.
Chapter 2 of 8: The Game: After you click Finish, You go back to the Main Menu. All of the buttons will be lit, Except "Play as a Guest". You click Play to go into the game. After you click it, A loading screen will appear. After its done you find you self on a starship's bridge and in a shipyard ready to depart from it.
