Ummm, no offense guys, but some of you might be putting a wee bit too much thought into this.

It's a post ranking system. Who cares how fast you hit one rank or another?

Zach, I'd say if you made a system already, it's probably all you need to do. :)

I agree with Redshirt. Post rankings are kind of a barometer for members to recognize who is a more consistent poster, and who is not. It's not really any more than that.

To be honest, i want to encourage people to do that, and for some people, one way to do that is with reachable goals to attain. I think the numbers i specified in the first post, will stand.

The original post's "post ranking system" is fairly close to what STO.net had.  I was at 1,463 posts when STO.net closed...oh so close to Commander.

Psssst...Hailing Frequency Team!....any chance of retaining my STO.net rank and post count?  :D

Quality, not quantity.  Right?    =)

How rigid is the award system?  Post count is all it takes into account?

Oh, don't mind me, I'm just trying to get my post count higher.   :p

Don't go any higher Zach! I think it would be a pretty bad pain in the butt getting up 75 posts, at least these days things are bit slow going after STO was cancelled :'( and maybe waiting another 3 years for it to be realsed. Darn it's waiting anxiously all over again.

Well Hopefully not THREE years LOL!  I'm gunna keep the post rankings as they are. As it is, only a handful of people have made it to LT JG - and in star trek, it was always fairly easy to get to those ranks, and harder for all the ranks after, so....yeah

If some people do manage to get to the top, then just keep adding in more ranks with nonlinear requirements.

That is probably the best idea. As it is, only a handful of people have gone past 100 posts each.

Okay, just to try and set a balance between the highs and the low's...:). I feel that the gaining of Ensign rank should come fairly quickly, however one cannot conceivably expect to reach captain rank very easily. Jon had only one (perhaps two) Captain rank posters after all the time he was online!

RANKS                POSTS NEEDED

Cadet 4th Class                     0
Cadet 3rd Class                    25
Cadet 2nd Class                    50
Cadet 1st Class                    100
Ensign                                200
Lieutenant Junior Grade          350
Lieutenant                           500
Lieutenant Commander         1,000
Commander                       1,800
Captain                             2,500
Commodore                       4,000
Rear Admiral                       6,000
Vice Admiral                      10,000
Admiral                            15,000
Fleet Admiral                     25,000

I see no need for an Ambassador or Council Member rank, but I threw in Fleet Admiral just in case. One could I suppose also inseret a Fleet Captain if one wanted to raise the bar a little more.

I like this one.   It took me under 4 years to attain over 25k posts across 3 accounts at SW:G forums....but I could do 15k in under a year easy.
