I would trust the IDW writers and artists. They have held the license to many other great fandoms. They did an excellant Transformers series a few years ago.

How do I know this? Well, I love comic books alot more than Star Trek. My father owned a comic book store in the '80s (it failed). So read lots of '80s comics around age 10, and have been following them on and off ever since. I moderated an RPG section of a comic book forum.

My best friends family owned a comic book store when I was growing up.  Practically lived there.

I have to love IDW Star Trek comics because Derek Chester wrote the Star Trek: Year Four, 'Enterprise Experiment' series with D.C. Fontana and I had a cameo in it as a Red Shirt who LIVED! (see: episode two. Character: 'TUTHILL').

I used to collect the old Star Trek comics ...

And didn't Data paint Spot in one of the TNG episodes?

The uniforms look snazzy to say the least!

Yes it does look cool. And I do believe that is indeed a large painting of a cat in the background. What everyone seems to have overlooked though is Data???!!  Apparently either B4 did develop or its a look alike android developed from dismantling b4.

As for the STO uniform, it's clear their will be a tie into the game SUPRISE! .......not.
They did this same thing with CoH, to help promote it through a comic book, and will do so again with champions and STO.  It's a good idea, even a better one if players in STO can influence the stories in the comic, afterall who could possibly resist the pull of a little fame?

Quite right about hte comic book and a book series (well 2 which I bought and read both)

I'd make a whole comic about Gorn and tribbles!
