I suppose command would be the safest role for a race without good medical or science technology

Well, since there won't be "Helm" as we know it, (i.e. we'll be controlling the ships even though we're the Captain) I suppose I'd have to go with Tactical, eventually leading to whatever Command line they have for senior officers.. 

Though I know I'll be trying everything, if we can make multiple characters on a server, :P

I'm pretty certain that you'll be able to have multiple characters on a server - at least I hope they do.

Every MMO I've ever looked at (and there have been a few ;) ) let you have more than one character, so I expect STO will have it as well.  Gives you a good opportunity to experience the game world from more than one perspective.

I'm thinking of beginning in the command line, since command is a fairly general knowledge base.  The other sources would require specific knowledge.  At least that would be my thought....I'm not really sure how that plays out when STO hits the street.

Agreed, I can't imagine STO sticking their players with one character.  Counselor, if you don't mind, I'd like to ask about your experience with the SB-118 e-mail based RPG.  Feel free to send me a message anytime, I'd like to find out more about it.  Thank you.
