I now have the hill (game)
« on: 01 November 2012 12:14 PM »
me and JeffT were playing a forum game on his bands website thought i would share it with you guys

The Rules:
-You may use any means to take the hill from the previous owner. IE, stealth/brute force/unconventional tactics/etc
-Nothing is off limits you may assume you have "helpers" to move large objects or otherwise co-ordinate or synchronize your actions but try to rely on yourself
-Don't destroy the hill please ( in the last board it only took about 3 posts before someone burrowed under the hill with 50lb's of c4...damn combat engineers)
-End your post with I now have the hill

Mods feel free to add rules or otherwise change anything if you think this can get out of hand.

I sat back and watched as the creator of the hill had finished his work and climbed to the top of his hill, sat down and cracked a can of his cold beverage of choice. In the darkness of the night I surround the hill with high intensity lights. Wearing a welding mask I calmly walk up the hill to my newly blinded foe, take the beverage from him and boot him off the top of the hill.

I now have the hill...and a nice cold one

this is what we got so far

Once the signal was given, my minions cut the power to the lights. As darkness enveloped the recently self-crowned king... his chilled beverage dropped from his grasp as I stealthy approached him with my night vision goggles in place and pushed him from the top of the hill leaving him rolling downward like a dirty snowball gathering momentum.

I then took my place as the rightful heir as King of the hill as my minions now positioned themselves encircled around me in a five-point position... prepared for any other trickery.

As I got up and looked at the new king with his smug look, and invincible confidence i pullout a remote control from my pocket. I looked up at him as he looked down upon me. i smirked and a sense of fear came across his face. I smiled and pushed a button on the control; fire blazed from the perimeter of the hill killing his minions. a flame thrower arm lurched up and pointed at the irredeemable king. In slow motion silence his lips uttered Nooooooo as he turned and leaped from the hill just as the first spark erupted the flamethrower. I pushed a button to shut it down. With irreverence and pride i strode up the hill, and took my rightful place as I shouted to the heavens... I NOW HAVE THE HILL

A smile overcame my lips as i look down and see Jeff looking up at me. MUhahahahaha

now you guys continue the game

With practiced ease, I pulled the steering lines on my parafoil and swung into a tight spiral. The current occupant of the hill had a seconds notice as wind spoiled off the drag canopy before my size nine boots punched him squarely in the back and sent him flying off the hill top. A hard pull up and I landed squarely in his place.

 Cutting the parafoil loose to drift away after the deposed former occupant, I quickly pulled out a few shruiken and disabled the flame throwers around the perimeter. Smiling down at the last tenant as he gathered his feet ... and breath, I taunted him with the same phrase that he had uttered only moments before my arrival from on high;

"I ... have the hill!"

I beamed myself up to the enterprise e, sat in the captains chair and ordered red alert. As the klaxxons screamed I ordered my tactical officer to lock a tractor beam on BLZBUB.  he pressed a button and the foil was pulled out of his hand and released in space. Lock phasers on BLZBUB i shouted. Phasers locked replied my tactical officer. BLZBUB sensing  my  deliberate attempt threw up  his shields and walked off the hill. I beamed down on the top of the hill with my away team. i now have the hill i said.

my ship has a new cloaking device. Because of the alternate timeline, destruction of Vulcan. Knowing the future of the Romulan Star Empire's sun, the resulting supernova was prevented, and Romulus was not destroyed. The Treaty of Algeron, a peace treaty agreed with the Romulan Star Empire, prevents the Federation from pursuing ship-cloaking technology, was abolished. Replaced by a new treaty. Romulus thus joined the Federation, becoming our allies. After much debate, Vulcans and Romulans abated their hatred for each other. Seems the reunification that minor segments of both worlds were pursuing had happened within the federation.

I remember watching "The Cage" when it originally aired on television. I was 8 years old. The fact of the Abrams universe does not alter the reality of the TOS reality, or the TNG one's either. That being said, I 'tolerate' the new JJ-verse because of my love of Trek, in all forms.

BUT ... that doesn't mean I have to like it, just live with it. I also dabble in ST:O because of this same love of the IP.

I understand. But i got to say the entire future of star trek is open to rewriting because of the alternate timeline. Whose to say someone else on the USS Kelvin didn't survive  might have had a major impact, or been the father of or grandfather of any of the main tos, tng, voy, ds9 characters. With Vulcan gone an billions of Vulcans dead, that is going to have a huge impact on the future, and we have no way of knowing what the outcome of those events will have on the future. Possibly even the designer of the Enterprise d might not have been born so it would look different. So you cant say "The fact of the Abrams universe does not alter the reality of the TOS reality, or the TNG one's either" because it does only marginally of course. The only way to undo what has been done is to go back in time before the incident and prevent nero from destroying USS Kelvin, and Vulcan. Then everything will be right. Hows that for a time paradox. Perhaps Daniels will send the enterprise NX into the future to set things right lol.
