Hey Folks,

Here is Episode 60 of Hailing Frequency which was broadcast to a live audience on Saturday February 7th 2009.

In this show, we cover a ton of Star Trek Online News that has been released since the last show including the first tid-bits of information to come out of the New York Comic Con.

Half way into the show, we bring our field reporter into the show live from the floor of the New York Comic Con where he gives us some STO Updates and an idea of the incredible atmosphere there.

As always, K'suan'indra brings us the latest Star Trek Gaming News Roundup and towards the end of the show we talk briefly about the new fan game TrekWars and about some rumours surrounding Bethesda Softworks hold over the Star Trek Gaming License.

Athos joins us once again as a guest host in this show.

Just finished listening to the podcast for Episode 60.  One of the best guys!  The live segment with Nova from ComiCon was excellent.  It makes me want to see more field correspondence reports in HF.  The chatbox was kickin' and the interaction between the listeners and the show was the best I've heard.   It all makes me more angry at the stupid flu germs that kept me bed ridden...well...couch ridden during the broadcast on Saturday.  Daycare seems to be a breeding ground for new strains of germs and I think the CDC should investigate.  :)  I look forward to being around for Episode 61.  I just hope that Zach is in prime Rico Suave form.

There are a couple of comments I wanted to make during the show.  I actually found myself shouting at the radio, and then I understood why it's called the shoutbox.  :)

-on the "playable department tracks"  Someone did say this during the episode, but Medical is indeed part of the broader Science track, Life Science, Biology, and even Psychology for anyone who wants to be a counsellor.

Command has always been a separate "track" that one undertakes.  I also think it's only available after graduation from the Academy.  I would remind you that Picard was scientist, Janeway was a scientist, and wasn't Sisko in engineering?  Didn't he help design the Defiant?  And I would also think that "Ops" and "Helm control" would fall under Engineering, shipboard systems control.

That's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

-on the mysterious "power generation room"

I posted earlier, somewhere on this forum, about how much it resembled one of the "bases" for COH/COV.  I still stand by that.  I looks to me like it could possible be a customized, player created room.

OR

I could be totally wrong.  :)

BUT

You were all commenting on how it looked Dominion but with humans in the room.  How could this be possible?  Well...correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Dominion build a lot of Alpha Quadrant facilities while they were over here and the wormhole was mined?  Thanks Rom!   I know for sure that they built Jem'Hadar and Vorta cloning facilities, Ketracel White facilities, and ship building facilities.  Wasn't the massive Jem'Hadar warship built in the Alpha Quadrant?  So it could very well be an old Dominion facility being held by pirates or raiders or just abandoned and being explored by an away team.

Or it could be Commander Rogers' secret facility from which he plans on launching his campaign to make Jatal Khyron emperor of mankind...

But it's probably not the last one....

I know that there was one more thing I wanted to address but...I can't recall.  To much Mucinex, NyQuil, Dayquil and being outside working has wrecked my brain.  I'll try to listen again tomorrow and maybe I'll remember.

/wave

Hey, Zach, click on the Rico Suave in my first post up there.  It's a hidden link to the answers you seek.  :)

Well I am glad that you enjoyed the show!  I think it's safe to say that we all had fun making it.

To be accurate, Tactical and Engineering are both under the umbrella of Operations.  Check out Memory Alpha on that one.

On the power generation facility...
I'm not certain how you could say we "were all commenting" about how the power generation facility seemed to be humans in a Dominion Facility; My analysis pointed to a non-human species in a completely alien facility...alien, as in not previously known.  So my conclusion was that it wasn't Dominion, Klingon or any other species that we know about, but that some commonalities existed.

At any rate, I'm glad to hear the show got your fired up.  I hope you feel better for the next show!
