Title: {UFP} The United Federation of Planets
Post by: Hathaway on 07 June 2010 07:55 PM

:startrek080:Greetings from The United Federation of Planets :startrek080:

My name is John Hathaway, Fleet Admiral for the UFP. After serving the Fleet as its leader since September 2002, I am extremely proud to continue to represent the UFP and all it has become.

The United Federation of Planets, {UFP}, is one of the oldest and largest pure Star Trek gaming fleets in operation today. The {UFP} has been operating since May 2002, and we are actively engaged in Star Trek Online as well as numerous other Star Trek PC game titles, offering a range of play styles from fast paced first person shooting, to PvE, to interactive role-play experiences and more.

In the 8+ years the {UFP} has learned a great deal about Fleet management, community spirit, and involving our members in a myriad of different ways for them to get the best possible experience. Some of our members have been playing and serving for a number of years now and we have formed strong working and friendly relationships. If you're looking for a stable, mature and friendly fleet, the UFP is what you seek.

Fleet Ethos & Summary

Dependable, accessible leadership and strong fleet involvement...

I believe our long term success has stemmed through sensible and reliable leadership from all those with responsibilities, from the highest ranks, down.
While we believe in the need for a military hierarchy we also believe it is imperative that the fleet is able to have a strong voice. So we actively encourage wide involvement in a myriad of fleet affairs. This is your fleet as much as it is mine. No one "owns" the UFP.

Casual and hardcore gamers welcome...

We are very much a clan which believes in the idea of "you get out, what you put in". If you're committed and dedicated to the UFP, you'll go far within it. There are numerous members who will attest to that.
However if you feel you're a casual player with limited time and perhaps many real life commitments, it's not a problem at all. All we ask is that you sign in at our monthly roll call, beyond that you are free to do as much or as little as you can/like. We understand real life comes first and we will not make any undue demands on our member base. Those with specific duties in the UFP simply need to hand them over temporarily in their absence.

Wide variety of play types, with a friendly and lively atmosphere...

We are a general fleet, in so much as we don't get bogged down by labels such as RP or PvP. We feel it is our duty to provide a wide ranging and flexible base upon which our members can enjoy a varied and fun organisation.
Our community is well known for its high spirit and willingness to help out, we are all classic Star Trek fans after all. We are constantly challenging our member base to get involved and bring about new ideas, and even lead their own projects under UFP support. So if this sounds like a fleet you want to be involved in, be sure to check us out!

I just wanted to leave a kind word for UFP.  I am not and have never been a member of UFP, but over the years I've run into various UFP members from different games (EF, Bridge Commander and SFC3 to name a few).

These guys run a good show, and in the wonderful world of Trek gaming clans where almost everyone says 'We've been around for years, we're the best, blah blah blah', UFP really HAS survived many waves of Star Trek games and they've been around for a long long time.

My former guild, the Omicron Fleet, had dealings with UFP back in 2001, and to my recollection, the only other truly relevant veteran clans from that long ago are/were RS (Red Squadron) and UFP.

Further to that,  in every intance of battle versus and/or cooperative with UFP that I can recall, their membersalways conducted themselves with class and skill.

Thank you Solok that's most kind. I've been very fortunate I believe over the years, to have recruited many great people that have made the journey a laugh and a joy, and a great learning experience. It's a pleasure to both work and game with them all, and that always makes the difference.

We're extremely proud to announce the launch of our new website, which you can view at www.ufplanets.com (http://www.ufplanets.com).
It is the culmination of many weeks of hard work and creativity, which has made this project a reality. A big thank you to all who worked on the project so we can now enjoy the fruits of that labour. :)

Well we've just finished our week long celebration of 9 years of UFP. During which we raised an impressive 165 for the Red Cross via a charity Raffle, where 5 of our members won a share of thousands of Atari Tokens (including a 5000 Atari Token top prize), as well as other great prizes in the process of being shipped :D

We're also in the early stages of planning our first meet up in the UK at Thorpe Park, this summer. Lot's to look forward to both on and offline.

If this sounds like your kind of community style fleet, look no further. Join us today at www.ufplanets.com (http://www.ufplanets.com)!
